1.0.0
The first public release.
A home for every song
- Add a song by name, or straight from whatever is playing. Its words come from lrclib, an open library of lyrics, and when lrclib has none, from the song's Genius page. A name is only accepted when it really is the song you asked for.
- Names in any script work: Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic and the rest.
- Rename a song in place, tag it, or remove it with a second click on the small − beside its title.
Words that follow the music
- Open a song that's playing and its words follow along line by line, glowing as each one is sung, and the page keeps the current line in view. Click a line to jump the song there.
- Songs whose lyrics were never timed follow approximately, and say so.
- Time any song yourself: press the timer, then Space as each line begins. Hymnal checks your run before it saves (every line tapped, in order, at the song's real pace).
- When lrclib has a timed version of a song you saved with plain words, Hymnal offers it, and never swaps it in unasked.
Around it
- Click a title and the song plays in the Spotify desktop app. Nothing to set up, and free accounts work too.
- The Genius mark beside an artist opens the song's Genius page.
- A paper-grain window with sharp 3 px corners, an aurora for what's playing, and no scrollbars in the way.
- Hints on hover for the first days, and a switch in Settings to turn them all off once you know your way around.
